🏫 It’s been 23 years since Childress High School underwent major renovations. Take a look at the current conditions and existing facilities across the campus. The building has no vestibule, giving visitors unrestricted access upon entry, and there are plumbing issues in the restrooms of the Ag Building, Home Economics Building and cafeteria.
Prop A includes renovations and new construction to the existing Childress High School to create a combined secondary campus for junior high and high school students.

Around School Buses
🚌 Slow down when you see a bus — kids can dart into the road unexpectedly
🚦 Be extra alert at railroad crossings, where buses are required to stop
🛑 Know the law: If a bus has flashing red lights on, you MUST stop — no matter which direction you’re driving — unless there’s a physical barrier or median between you. A center turn lane does NOT count as a divider!
The Cost of Not Stopping
💸 First offense for illegally passing a school bus: up to $1,250 in fines
🚫 Repeat offenses: possible license suspension up to 6 months
⚖️ Serious injury caused? That can mean criminal charges
School Zone Reminder
🐢 Obey posted speed limits in school zones — always

📚 What is an Attendance Credit Election (ACE)?
Childress ISD has been classified by the Texas Education Agency as a property-wealthy district, which means the district is required to send funds back to the state through recapture.
On the November ballot, voters will also see Proposition D, an Attendance Credit Election (ACE). This state-required, one-time permanent election asks voters to authorize CISD to make its required recapture payments by purchasing attendance credit.
If approved, this would allow Childress ISD to use the method that 100% of Texas school districts currently required to pay recapture use to meet their payment obligations.
