Principal's Message

I am excited to start another school year at CJHS. I want to welcome all students, parents and community members to join in on the journey we will travel this year. This is a crucial time in our students' lives. They enter our doors as 6th grade boys and girls; we bid them farwell in three years as young men and young ladies.

The staff of Childress Junior High School believes that each student has the need, the desire and the ability to learn. Optimum learning will occur when a student feels, happy, safe, self-confident, and successful. Education should be a cooperative community process. It is with conviction and determination that we accept the responsibility of transforming these beliefs into actions, which will continuously and progressively equip students for life and all its responsibilities and challenges.

We are implementing a HOMEroom time for our students this year. This time will stress academics, character and accountability in a warm, supportive environment.

There are two portable buildings on the northeast side of the campus. Many of our existing classrooms are small and limit teachers and students from doing group work and projects. We are excited to be able to implement the State curriculum in a more interactive and effective manner.

We will continue to offer FREE breakfast for students wanting to eat breakfast at school. The students may go to the cafeteria for breakfast anytime between 7:35 and 7:55. The first bell rings at 7:55-- food items can not be brought into classrooms.

Please feel free to stop by to see our staff and students hard at work. If you have any concerns, suggestions or questions, please contact me at 940-937-3641 Ext. 301 or mmeacham@childressisd.net.
